Laundry for a cause

Posted by Rachel Bollin on

Awesomeness is unfolding.  A dream of mine to intertwine my little company with a cause extremely important to me and my family.  A partnership with the National Kidney Foundation.

You won't have to look far to see why we choose NFK as our charity of choice.  We may never know why my sweet Tony suffered from kidney failure in his mid 20's.  His Kidney's were too far gone when the Doctors informed him he was in stage 5 renal failure, some 19 years ago.  Kidney Failure is real and it's scary.    26 Million Americans have kidney disease, 1 in 3 Americans are at risk for developing kidney disease.  And yet, this cause is not getting enough attention.

Tony had his first kidney transplant 18 years ago after being on dialysis for 5 years.  Now, the average wait at his hospital (UCLA) is 10 plus years. In 2013 Tony's kidney failed again.  This time, he was blessed with a kidney by a living donor.  He received his transplant last June after only waiting a year on dialysis.

Dialysis is a horrible way to live, and my dream is to one day live in a world were kidney disease is eradicated.  The National Kidney Foundation works hard to bring awareness to kidney disease and to find cures.  They need more help in raising money to increase their ability fight the fight.

So it is with great excitement that I announce; Starting May 1st 2015, for EVERY BAG of laundry soap we sell, .50 cents will go back to the National Kidney Foundation.  We will launch with a twitter party #laundryforacause, change our bag tags and work on adding fundraising tools to our website.

Thank you all for your amazing support on this journey.
