The Summer of Change
If you know me, or my company, you know why and how it was created. A woman on a mission to save her husband and children. Tony, the love of my life went into stage 5 renal failure in his late 20's. Long before I knew him. He waited 5 years for that first kidney and that kidney did him well for nearly 18 years.
When that kidney failed in 2013, I felt like my world was ending. Here I was, a stay at home mom with one year old twins and a husband who needed to go on dialysis and find a new kidney. The wait for a deceased donor, 10 years. 10 years too longs as far as I was concerned.
I looked at my girls, especially Nora. The exact make up of Tony. His duplicate, his mini me. How can I protect these sweet babies from ever facing kidney failure themselves? The answer came in the form of removing chemicals from our home. B & N Laundry was formed and built on the concept that laundry products can be free of nasty chemicals and still work.
While all this was going on, I was also in serach of a living donor for Tony. As luck would have it, we found one and after many ups and downs, on June 24th 2014 Tony was given the gift of life.
So here we are, business is booming. I'm a Martha Stewart Made in America Finalist and Tony is well. Well enough to go back to work. I admit, this scares the crap out of me. Back to his long hours in the sun. Me left alone with the business and the twins. Right in the middle of a major growth spurt.
It's scary but I can do it. It's scary, but it's awesome. Really really awesome.
